Andrich Returns To Action

Being a former AMA pro Motocross and
Supercross contender kind of sticks with you, even if you take a
couple years off to raise a family, so when Steve Andrich, a
former topnotch California motocross star signed up to race
again here at Broadway, it didn’t surprise too many folks.
Andrich, settling in Central Ohio some time back, was a regular
at local motocross events, generally very competitive in the
money classes – until he opted to work on family matters, but
now, after a brief hiatus from the sport, Andrich is back racing
and, apparently having fun doing it. Now, however, on a Suzuki,
instead of his usual Yamaha mounts. On this day, he stayed away
from the pro classes and relaxed into the elderly divisions,
albeit the vet “A” classes, where he did a bit of winning,
easily dusting off his skills and silencing the competition as
he swept the 25 and 30 plus expert races. The pro classes were
all about Shawn Johnson, of Fredericktown, as the fast lanky lad
took his Hondas to the win and went home with the cash in both
125 and 250 pro.
