INVASION of the NEW
PHILADELPHIANS!
By Rupert X Pellett
Ohio County Fair Motocross Championship Series - Round 25
Tuscarawas County Fair
DOVER, OH SEP 17
With KTM/ Red Bull's Brock Sellards,
F&S Suzuki's David Hill and Buckeye Cycle Supply/
FLY racewear's Thomas Kelley all competing at this star-studded
affair - you just knew the
racing was going to erupt. And it did. Sellards, the biggest star
of the three New Philadelphia
based riders, was easily the pre-race favorite at this fair
motocross race-track, although
Hill and Kelley, both well known in Ohio racing circles and both
incredibly talented riders - would
like nothing better than to beat their competitor and colleague
at this local race. New Philadephia, very close on the Buckeye map
to Dover would have a couple
thousand screaming fans to cheer on their favorite sons at this
late round of the Ohio County Fair
Motocross Championship Series, as pros and amateurs alike
thrashed their machines on the tight, jumpy circuit. The 125 A/
Pro class would see a surprise
as David Hill would take the win ahead of second place Thomas
Kelley - said Hill of Sellards'
misfortune; " I guess Brock went down in the whoops - I took
advantage of the situation and
cruised on in for the win". Sellards would allow no obstacle
or rider to displace his glory
on the 250's however - the brilliant KTM factory rider and Ohio's
fastest current pro shook off
the pack and charged to the win, with fans roaring their approval.
Hill would take runner - up
honors, with Kelley in third. In amateur classes of racing, some
future stars flashed their
stuff - Gavin " Speedy-G" Gracyk tore up the B classes
and annihilated the 16-24 age
group division, as well - for good measure. Dusting off his
Kawasakis, the amazing Dustin
Freitag swept the Super-Mini and Mini Senior divisions, while
Logan's Levi Kilbarger did the
same to the 65cc and Mini-Junior classes. Jared Grabiel flung his
Kawasaki to the win in
Schoolboy, just ahead of Brewster's A.J.Hattery - the gifted
Hattery, showing spectacular speed,
also finished second, behind Gracyk, in 125 B. Also worth noting,
was the screaming Suzuki of
Travis McQueen - the fast young flyer from Baltic, ran third in
125 B and second behind National amateur champ Gracyk, in 250 B
and 16-24.
