Ohio Arenacross Series - Rounds 15 & 16
Marion Indoor Coliseum
MARION, OH FEB 9/10

Pickerington, Ohio's Whitcraft brothers have been tearing up both the local AMA district eleven tracks and competing at the top national amateur levels for over a decade now - both earning recognition as two of the faster young men in the nation.

Younger brother Christopher has been taking lots of the accolades the last couple years for his racing prowess, however older brother David Whitcraft is no slouch - the F&S Suzuki sponsored racer has been tearing up the Marion indoor coliseum with steady results and consistent trips to the podium - all winter long. Dillion Watkins, of Kenton, Ohio put a surprise on the crowd though, as he snatched a victory and proved he's a young, fast racer with a lot of talent and a brilliant future- the A division veteran - only sixteen - took one of the pro class wins from Whitcraft - while Whitcraft sped off with three money class 125 and 250 main event wins.

In amateur action - the 65cc 7-9 age group contest was all about Curt Gaski - the Ravenna, Ohio based speedster stormed off with both of the weekends big races aboard his KX-65. Once again it was Matthew Cottrill, of Chillicothe, finishing off the 85cc 7-11 age division - he stuffed his Yamaha YZ-85 home first In both contests. Hebron's Brandon Borgen owned the 85cc 12-15 year-old class - snaking his Kawasaki KX-85 in for a couple moto wins. As Jared Grabiel did all the damage in the Schoolboy class over the weekend - it was Nathan Skaggs earning the praise as top amateur rider over the two-day event, Skaggs would post wins in the 125 and 250 B classes and the 16-24 age group division - conquering all comers on his Yamahas.

It was the usual suspects going fast and earning wins in the old-timers classes - Mitch Warrens wasted the pack of 25 plus B racers, Buckeye Powersports' Dickie Hoy took the measure of the 25 plus money 'A' class and Chuck Nicholson handled the mob of 30 plus older dudes. "Bad" Brad Vanwinkle showed the very elderly 40 plus class geezers how to handle the whoops - as he stormed off with easy wins in the old man's division.
