WHITCRAFT and STRUNK CLEAN UP in JACKSON

Both mounted on Suzuki's and equally impressive aboard a motorcycle, Pickerington's Chris Whitcraft and Hamilton's Brad Strunk went at it all weekend long here in a revised horse show arena, just outside of Jackson. Strunk, newly mounted on his Cycle - Specialties backed yellow bikes and Whitcraft, steady onboard his familiar F&S Suzuki RM's, tuned by Ronnie Rehmert - put on quite a show for the racers and fans at this southern Ohio venue. Whitcraft would take a points lead in the young series though, as he won both the 125 and 250 pro classes on Friday night and won the 125 feature on Sunday afternoon. Strunk whisked his new, meticulous machines through for Saturday night's mains, taking both the 125 and 250 classes in blazing fashion. Of mention, Doug Gall, on yet another Suzuki, was the in the mix all weekend long, taking Sunday afternoon's 250 feature and surprising many of the regulars. Strunk chose to ride three classes each day, also competing in the 25 plus 'A' division, in which he mastered every moto. Strunk would have to fight off the likes of competitor Dickie Hoy, freshly piloting a brand new Honda CRF - 450, provided by his sponsor, Aaron Madinger, of Buckeye Powersports. " We decided to help Dickie out as much as we can, he'll be competing in the 125 Pro and 25 plus classes, throughout this Ohio Arenacross series - we just picked up his bikes this week, prepped them back at Buckeye Powersports in Newark - then went racing! We're real pleased with Hoy's riding - he's doing great!", explained Madinger. Besides the pro classes, there was much great racing amongst the 300 plus amateurs that came out to compete here in Jackson - Mechanicsburg's Bradley Baker was strong all weekend, winning two classes on Friday night and on the podium all three days. Hunter Brightwell and Derek Stinson ran hard all weekend, battling in the 50cc classes aboard their Cobra and Yamaha machines. While Zach "Attack" Ames and his F&S Suzuki RM-80 cleaned up in the 80 senior division, Proctorville's Ryan Brumfield impressed many in the 80 junior class, as he fought off the likes of "Jammin' Joey Leadbeater and a host of fast kids during the three day event. Leadbeater was able to score Saturday night's win, while Jimmy King, Matthew Cottrill, Cody Gang and Colby McCutcheon fought all weekend for podium spots.
