New
Philly Rules! Sellards & Kelley Conquer Dover
By Rupert X Pellett
Ohio County Fairs Motocross Championship Series - Round 25
Tuscarawas County Fair - Fairgrounds Track
Dover, OH
SEP 16
There
is always some good racing at the Ohio County Fairs Motocross
Championship Series - yet when the
stars turn out - things get real fun. Locally
based out of New Philadelphia, both Red Bull KTM team rider Brock
Sellards and Buckeye Cycle
Supply/ Fly Racewear backed Tom Kelley decided to take in a
little fair-cross in Dover, pretty
close to home and an opportunity to make a few bucks and race in
front of some home-brewed fans. Sellards, recently signing with
Yamaha of Troy for 2003, will
be on the blue bikes come AMA Supercross time - yet tonight he
was aboard his trusty orange KTM's.
Kelley, a very fast privateer that races wherever and
whenever, intends on jumping back into the feisty National
Arenacross Series and competing
in the small arenas. Joining the fray here in New Philly, was Team
Green hero Gavin "Speedy
G" Gracyk and fair race regular - Dickie Hoy. In the 125
class, Sellards used a quick
start on his KTM SX-125 to take the lead and win big, while
Kelley and Gracyk would tangle over
second - with Kelley ultimately taking the position
at the checkers. The 250 money class was to see some heroics from
Kelley - as the "Brockster"
took the holeshot on his 520 - yet Kelley was able to take over
first and hang on for the win, with Grayck third on his Kawasaki
and Hoy in fourth aboard his
Buckeye Powersports backed CR-450F. Rounding out the top five was
Westerville's Shaun Kuchler, who was
also the victor of the 16-24 division. Brewster's
A.J.Hatery had a fine evening - he toppled the Schoolboy class on
his RM-125 and finished a
strong second behind Kevin Ott in the 125 B class. The 250
B class was owned by Dover's own Brian Beaber and his RM-250,
while Strongsville's strongman
- Michael Blauman, snatched the first place trophy in the
Mini-Junior class. Vermilion's Logan Karnow stole the show in the
50cc 7-8 division - the KTM
racer bested Polini rider Zach Knotts in second and Ethan
Scarberry, in third.
