Kawasaki mounted Fletcher Shryock was having nothing to do with second - place at this mid-week fair race, as the fast young man from Newcomerstown came down south to issue a proclamation of performance. With this fair - race series starting to close in on school days, the Muskingum county fairgrounds held an overflow crowd of both spectators and racers, all eager to watch some grand "fair-cross" action at this round number seventeen of the lengthy summer-series. Shryock , a sometimes competitor at these events, busted out his green machines and simply overran the field here in Zanesville. Mostly with great starts and unreal speed through the whoops, Shryock sailed to both main event s wins in the money classes, besting local vet hero Dickie Hoy in the 250 pro main and Jerid Grabiel in the 125 expert class, as well. Hoy, no stranger to a fair-race, was the man to beat in the elderly divisions, as he piloted his Buckeye Powersports, Swifty Madinger - tuned CRF - 450 to a second place in the 25+ class, behind Tony "The Tiger" Robinson - and a triumphant whipping of the 30 plus class, as well.
