Ames & Skaggs Jump Ahead in Jackson

F& S Suzuki's Zach Ames and Yamaha-mounted Nathan Skaggs each put their best foot forward and scored a bunch of wins at the first weekend of racing in American Motosports winter Arenacross series, as hundreds of riders from throughout Ohio and surrounding states converged at this former horse-arena to compete in three long days of hardcore indoor motocross. Skaggs, of Chillicothe, was beaten in the 125 class on Saturday night by the amazing Derek Sturgell, of Ashville - other than that, it was pretty much a cash-filled win-fest for the young pro, as Skaggs was just unstoppable, taking five out of six pro moto overall wins in the 125 and 250 classes over the three days of racing. Coming down from Prospect, Ohio, Ames was just incredible - taking a total of nine class overalls over the triple-day event, as Ames snatched up the 125 and 250 B class victories each day, as well as all the Schoolboy races. Northern Ohio was well represented at Jackson, as Vince Karnow and his KTM's were not to be taken lightly, he had a bunch of runner-up finishes in the pro classes and was the top-dog in the 25 plus A class all weekend, too. The 85cc 12-15 class was all about Tony Gallo - as the impressive young man did a lot of winning aboard his Suzukis. The vet classes were dominated by two fast gentlemen; Richard Custard and Mark Roop - Custard spun up the forty plus division - while it was all about Roop, all weekend - in the 30 plus (veteran's) class.
